Paypal "Type 2" Forms:
Setting up your website template:

Step 1:
CHOOSE HOMEPAGE:
If you will be using the default homepage, move the "NO-FLASH-homepage.htm" into the extras folder. If you would prefer to use the no Flash homepage, move the "index.html" into the "extras" folder and rename the "NO-FLASH-homepage.htm" to "index.html".

Step 2:
EDIT FLASH ANIMATION: | Click for more details
Open the "flash.txt" file and edit "website" with the first part of your logo. Be sure not to delete the "logo1=". Edit the "&logo2=title.com" with the second part of your logo. If you don't have two parts to your title, simply leave the area after "logo1=" or "&logo2=" blank. Add spaces to separate the logo text. Edit the "&slogan= Optional phrase, or leave blank, 847-555-5555" with your slogan. Be sure not to delete the "&slogan=". This will update the Flash logo on all pages. If you wish to use a graphic logo, there are instructions later in this document.

Edit the "Welcome" text for the "var LogoText" in the "header.js" with your site name. To test this, make the "var showflash" a "no" and open the "index.html" in your web browser. This is the text that will show in non-Flash browsers. Change the "var showflash" back to "yes" when you are done.

INCLUDED FLASH DETECT - HEADER DETECT: | Click for more details
The "header.js" includes a browser detection script for non-Flash browsers and devices. An option for testing and to show either text, or an image in non-Flash browsers is included in the "header.js". Click above for details.

Step 3:
EDIT COPYRIGHT: | Click for more details
Open the "copyright.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and edit the "Your Company" text with your site name. This will update the left footer info on all pages.

Step 4:
EDIT CONTACT INFO: | Click for more details
Open the "contact.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and change the company name, address, phone and fax number and email address (edit the email in 2 places). This will update contact info on the "contact" page. This is done in a .js file so search engines won't see your e-mail and you'll get less spam.

Step 5:
EDIT THE CONTACT AND QUOTES FORM:

Click for current info on setting up the template forms.

Click for info on adding more fields to the forms.

Click for changing form sizes or colors.

If you want to use only e-mail on the contact page you can remove the contact form from the "contact.htm" between the comment tags.

Because of the complexity of setting up the quote form, there are notes in the "quotes.htm" to help you cut and paste to add new form fields. The form will work with most contact form scripts however you will need help files or a sample form from the script you intend to use. Most form elements work the same way from script to script, however the hidden values usually vary. You may want to consider editing the entire page in Notepad instead of a wysiwyg editor.

Step 6:
GALLERY SETUP: | Click for more details | Thumbnail Help
If you will not be using the Paypal gallery pages, move the 3 "FORMgallery?.htm" pages into the extras folder. To use the Paypal cart see options below on this page.

The best way to setup the pictures in the gallery is not to actually edit the HTML pages and change the pictures on each individual page. The fastest way is to simply replace the pictures in the "gallery" folder with your own by overwriting the files that are in there now and using the same generic names.

In the "gallery" folder, replace all "Fgallery?.jpg" pictures with full size photos. Replace all "gallery?.jpg" pictures with your thumbnails. The thumbnails are now 100 x 67 pixels and the Fgallery images are 500 x 333 but you can make them any size that you prefer. There is info on the other pictures in this template later in this document.

IMAGE VIEWER OPTIONS: | Click for more details
You can change some options for the gallery image viewer page (image-viewer.htm) by editing the pop-closeup.js in Notepad. Options include new browser window, or popup for the viewer.

Step 7:
REPLACE THE FLASH CHANGER IMAGES: (OPTIONAL) | Click for more details
The Flash image changer on the homepage (index.html) is showing 8 .jpg images. You can replace these images in the "flash" folder with your own 600 wide x 250 pixel high .jpg images. In the "flash" folder is a file called "image_changer.xml". This file is the changer setup file. Edit this .xml file in Notepad to change how the changer works. You can also add more images to the changer. Click for details. NOTE: The feather tool was used to fade the Flash images to black on the left side.

INCLUDED FLASH DETECT - XML CHANGER: | Click for more details
The homepage Flash image changer includes a browser detection script. A static image, the "image1-xml.jpg" in the flash folder will display in non-Flash browsers and mobile devices.

Step 8:
EDIT TWITTER FACEBOOK LINKEDIN LINKS: | Click for more details
Edit the links near the top of the "sidebar-left.htm" with your link to Twitter Facebook and LinkedIn. To remove these links, delete the code between the "START SOCIAL LINKS" and "END SOCIAL LINKS" notes.

Step 9:
EDIT SIDEBARS: | Click for more details
You can edit the "sidebar-left.htm" and "sidebar-right.htm" like any other HTML page. Editing these sidebar pages will update all the pages at one time. If you need more height in the sidebar pages you can edit the "SB-LT-frame" (left) or "SB-RT-frame" (right) height style classes in the "coolstyle.css".

NOTE: The homepage is not using the "sidebar-right.htm" so you can allow for other information on this page. Additionally, this is not global on the homepage so search engines can read the homepage sidebar links.

Step 10:
EDIT PAGES: | Software choices | Notepad Editing
Change the text on all pages with your information. You can use a text editor like Notepad, Frontpage, Dreamweaver or any wysiwyg editor. Take care not to delete any of the HTML tags that surround the text. You will find notes inside each HTML page to indicate areas to edit. NOTE: You will not see the footer and header in some software because they are .js include files so you can globally edit the footer and menu.

Step 11:
EDIT TITLES, DESCRIPTIONS AND KEYWORDS: | Click for more details
Open each of the HTML pages and edit the titles (at the very top of the page) and also the description and the keywords with your product or service details. You can edit one page and copy and paste to the other pages. Be careful to only change what's inside the "" so you don't disturb the html code. Page titles are important so your site will get a good listing at Google, Yahoo! and other search engines.

Step 12:
UPLOAD: | Click for more details
Upload the pages on to your hosting company's server using ftp software or Windows Explorer or your control panel. Be sure to upload the "picts" and "gallery" and "flash" folders and all files in these folders.

Options:

USING A GRAPHIC LOGO:
To replace the Flash logo with a graphic logo: edit the "header.js". Edit the "var showflash" from yes to no, and edit the "var logotype" from "text" to "graphic" (all lowercase). In the "picts" folder you will find a graphic called "logo.jpg". Edit this graphic with your logo. The "logo.jpg" is 600 pixels wide by 100 pixels high. You can make this image any size you would like. Edit the ".headercolor" class background color in the "coolstyle.css".

HOMEPAGE SOUND: | Click for more details
The homepage (index.html) has a background sound named "home-sound.mp3" and "home-sound.ogg" in the "sounds" folder. Optionally replace both files to have your own sound play on the homepage. You may want to keep the 2 "home-sound" files small so the homepage downloads fast. To remove the homepage background sound delete between the "START SOUND CODE" and "END" notes in the index.html.

SLIDESHOW SETUP:
For complete details and options for the slideshow.htm please click here.

FONTS: | Click for more details
You can change your font colors and sizes by editing the "coolstyle.css" with a text editor. You can find other font colors by clicking here. You can edit font sizes in the "coolstyle.css" file. Change the "table" px size to change the copy on all pages. Change the "title" px size to change all the title sizes.

CHANGING LINKS / ADDING TO THE MENU: | Click for more details
You can change the names of the links like "about" or "services" to other page names by editing the "menu.js". Whatever you change in the "menu.js" will change every page on the website. Keep the names short so they don't go outside the menu. You can also add more pages by copying one link in the "menu.js" and pasting it right below the next. Be sure to back up your files before you edit them. There are notes in the menu .js files to add more links.

This template includes a total of 3 menus. These files can be edited in Notepad and may include options.

menu.js (right side menu)
menu_horz.js (horizontal menu at top and bottom)
menu-gallery.js (number links in the gallery pages)

Gallery "menu-gallery.js" sample:
